Soapy cup of coffee and the worst gravy I've ever had
The highlights of this restaurant are the price and service. The food is very cheap, and came quickly. Considering the price, fare is good. This place is great if you wake up in backbone state park and don't feel like cooking breakfast. The inside is modern with a rustic touch, and the kitchen looks clean from what you can see in the seating area.
MoreProbably one of the best places I have eaten at. The food was amazing. The atmosphere was great. The staff was wonderful. Good price of food. I duggest try the ruban.
MoreHad a great dinner, very good food and good servicei
A hometown diner. Food is excellent. Our service wasn't good.
Very attentive staff, great service. Reasonable prices. Food was excellent and arrived quickly.
MoreFood was great would have added a photo of the pie but looked so go ate before a photos lol
MoreAwesome breakfast food
Awesome food and banana cream pie
a large pork tenderloin sandwich, large fries and pies such as banana creme pie for dessert. My sandwich was juicy and relatively soft. Medium price range.
MoreThis place was awesome! Great food & the people were so friendly in there. I will definitely stopped there again when get to that part of Iowa.
MoreA great place to eat, reasonable prices, and friendly wait staff!
Amazing food, Wonderful staff. We stayed at the hotel and had dinner and breakfast. It was all amazing!!
MoreNice staff and atmosphere!
The atmosphere is great. Have known the owner Brenda almost my entire life. Food is always amazing. Always good friendly service and Brenda's pies u can never go wrong
MoreGreat prices large amount of food and fantastic homemade pies
Great breakfast! Great people!
Wonderful home cooked food like Mom makes. Home-made pies as well, not store bought. Reasonable prices.
MoreQuiet, very friendly service, enormous portions and pretty inexpensive. When we were there, the folks from the local bluegrass festival frequented the place - fun! There is also a gift shop with things made by local artists and artisans.
MoreGood service and food.
Back Home Country Cooking is one of those small town, everyone know everyone, restaurants that are treasures to find. I don't live in the town, but travel through there frequently. It good wholesome food and always fresh. They make the best pies right there in the kitchen. They keep a running total of the number of pies that have been made. The last I saw was over 23,000. That alone says a lot about the restaurant.
MoreThe food there is okay, but expensive. Their pies are amazing though.
Absolutely delicious and extremely reasonably priced. The service was excellent and just fast enough for our Sunday needs. The ambiance was very farm friendly and folksy. They had a little area offering local artisans wares which my daughter found delightful. The entire mealtime experience was perfect for our lazy day Backbone State Park plans. And again I think YUM!
MoreEverything was good except the kids meals were not big enough. Kids (3&5) ordered pancakes and got one single pancake. My kids are not huge eaters but still left the restaurant asking for more food.
MoreGreat food. You get exactly what you would expect at a place like this. I'd highly suggest trying the pie. The peanut butter pie I had was delicious.
MoreAwesome food. Our server, Justice, was super sweet. I pieced together my own breakfast (pregnancy craving) and she was extremely patient with me. If we lived closer we would def go there again/more often.
MoreThe food is plentiful and very tasty!! All the staff are friendly and made us feel like family. We’ve been there for both breakfast and dinner every time we are in the area. We live four hours away and camp nearby. Always enjoy eating and shopping there.
MoreService was amazing and food was great
Our expectations were exceeded with the delicious down home cooking here. My husband ordered the fish sandwich with homemade French fries; he said the fish was perfect & more than enough even for dinner. I tried their prime rib with homemade mashed potatoes with a tossed salad. Their prime rib was one of the best I've had in a very long time. It was perfectly roasted, grilled a tad and medium rare to a tee. They could charge a couple of more bucks but we were pleasantly surprised by the quality to low cost. We will return again!
MoreSurprisingly good and pretty cheap
We came after the icecream shop had closed, but they opened it up for us and were very nice. Two other groups of people came after us and they served them also. Excellent service. My two young boys really appreciated it.
MoreThe food was good. We went there with family. Service was great.
Wonderful place! Love the decor, wonderful staff, and the food! Yum!
We had the pork chop special for $8.99 which was 2 good sized grilled pork chops, two sides, and a drink. My wife and I split it and it was delicious. Wanted to have some home made pie, but just no room. Clean and friendly restaurant. Would highly recommend as a hidden gem in this small town of Strawberry Point. We saw a realtor sign out front and hope they are not selling it. Would be a shame for the town to lose a nice eating establishment like this one.
MoreFood is hit, fresh, fast and delicious! Cute little country items for sale too!
Great atmosphere good food
A great lunch the club sandwich was delicious. And the fresh Strawberry rhubarb pie was awesome.
MoreMy wife and I went for supper and was less than impressed with the food and service. I had been there years ago when they first opened for breakfast and it was good but will go anywhere else before coming back here again.
MoreBest restaurant in town, of course it's the only one other than the hotel. They are closed on Mondays however when open they have great food and service. Lots of people gather there to meet their friends everyday.
MoreWow, very impressed. We were visiting from Florida and looking for a place to eat. We chose here and we are glad we did. The pork tenderloins were amazing. The jalapeno poppers were on point. To top off the home cooking, we had a slice of red raspberry pie. OUTSTANDING! Go forth and eat!
MoreVery good food and waitress was very friendly. Reasonable pricing and good serving sizes
MorePretty good food I have to say
Fast service, friendly staff and yummy food.
At Breakfast I ordered the "#1 with half of everyrhing". Which is 2 eggs over easy, 2 pcs of perfectly cooked bacon, 1 nice slab of cured country ham ( amazing), 1 sausage patty, 2 sausage links and hashbrowns with cheese. I ate it all and was stuffed until later that evening. Excellent!!
MoreHome made pies! Good food. Nice prices.
Only $ 9.07 and it was very tasteful
The kind of down-home but high-quality place that you don't find much anymore. Very friendly, great value, and deservedly famous for their fantastic pies.
MoreGood lunch and delicious pie. I had sweet potato fries that were served with apple butter, a combination I've never heard of but will ask for now.
MoreGood food and quick service but the staff wasn't the most attentive. Ordered coffee but never got it. Overall though it's a nice local place.
MoreThe best home cooked meal I have had in a long time. I wish I would of taken photos of everything. I had a Rachel and Potato Soup. The Hot Beef looked and tasted amazing. The hot beef also had real potatoes. The pie was the best ever!! It is a must stop in Strawberry Point, Iowa.
